Today, we\u2019re covering the fundamentals for registering vinyl graphics from creating the perfect registration mark to removing the liner. Here is it, our Basic Guide to Registering Vinyl Graphics.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Terms<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have outlined key terms that you will need to know to better understand how to register vinyl graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Bleed&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 excess print that is trimmed away when the film is cut to final size.<\/li><li><strong>Substrate Size<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the size of the area to be applied on a substrate.<\/li><li><strong>Skew<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the wall or substrate, is level, square, etc.<\/li><li><strong>Overlap<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the amount of film that covers the next panel.<\/li><li><strong>Registration Point<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Easily identifiable, unique shape\/line along the edge of a print in the overlap.<\/li><li><strong>Key Panel<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 starting panel, usually determined by the key graphic element or edge of the panel.<\/li><li><strong>Tack Point<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 tape or exposed adhesive that will hold the panel to the wall or substrate during registration.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Registering Vinyl Graphics 101<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"353\" height=\"294\" src=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Arlon-Starting-Out-Thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4646 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Arlon-Starting-Out-Thumbnail.jpg 353w, https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Arlon-Starting-Out-Thumbnail-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Registering vinyl graphics, when used in wide format printing means, to adjust to secure exact correspondence. Printed graphics are designed to fit a specific substrate, but large graphics will have multiple printed panels requiring you to register\/align your graphic to a substrate before installation. But, why is registering appropriately critical to a successful installation? If not appropriately navigated, registering panels will take longer, than applying the panel or requiring removal and reinstallation. Knowing how to register your graphic properly will lower application time and increase quality and efficiency<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"292\" src=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6085\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-1-300x86.png 300w, https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-1-768x219.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Register Vinyl Graphics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step One \u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;Layout and lineup your graphic by each panel on a clean table or flat surface, or two panels at a time, space allowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step Two \u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;Identify three registration points on each overlapping edge of the panels, a high, middle, and a low on the panel, and fit them together.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"676\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6086\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-2.jpg 676w, https:\/\/www.far-from-normal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Image-2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Step Three \u2013<\/strong>&nbsp;Use tape or a&nbsp;Stabilo pencil&nbsp;to make marks near the registration point. Tape works best and can be cut with a squeegee to release and maintain marks. If you use the area of the registration marks, you run the risk of removing the mark or distorting the film with the registration mark on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step Six<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Once the panel is fitted with no tension, release any lower tack points of the panel and pull the liner from the liner slit just under the first registration or tack point. Pull the liner tight against itself with even tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step Seven&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 Once you have exposed 8\u2033 \u2013 10\u2033 (20 cm \u2013 25 cm) of adhesive while pulling the liner, begin application at the point of the liner slit.
